Grace and Peace Be With You, My Friends

(Col 3:15, 1 Cor 1:3, Psalm 119:105)

What to know about this song:

I’ve never been much of a conventional worship leader, neither with adults nor with children.  I don’t believe that I have the same gift that, say, a Chris Tomlin has.  I believe, rather, that God has given me the gift of teaching, of exhortation, and that music is the vessel I’m given to convey that gift for now.

Having said that, my first goal with these songs is to teach your kids something.  If they can spin my CD a few times and know a little something about who they are by the time they get a little older, then mission accomplished.

This song, however, is the one exception – this is the song I wrote simply because I have a heart for children.  Though I hope these songs touch the lives of as many kids as possible, and though I have a heart for all children, there is a small group of them that I’m blessed to see every Sunday morning, and that I’ve been so honored to be entrusted to lead them in worship for a few minutes every week.  I wanted to give them something that doesn’t require them to do or say or think about anything, but instead that simply blesses their hearts.

I hope this song blesses you and your kids!

Lyrics:

Grace and Peace be with you, my friends,
May His presence protect you, ‘til we’re singing again
Together, with thanks, for all He has done
And be filled with the hope of great works still to come
May goodness and mercy be the air that you breathe
And the Truth of His Word be a light for your feet
Love God, love each other, and rest in His arms
May He bless you and keep you, and keep you from harm
Let us worship and praise Him in all that we do

It’s such a joy to my heart just to praise Him with you
